About Roses Workshop
As a child in the hills of southern Scotland I was surrounded by sheep farms, set against the pastel heathers and brackens of the higher peaks. The traditional skills of spinning, weaving and knitting wool, as well as sewing and embroidery, were passed on to me by older generations.
Roses Workshop was born of recession, giving the impetus to lift a hobby into a business. Starting out with just a few knitted hats for friends, I now have a range of fashion, home, and gift items, all still handmade personally.
My passion is for British wool in many forms, including the world renowned hand-woven Harris tweed. You will find examples of these creations here, both ready made in my shop and previous commissions in my gallery. I also turn fluffy wool into solid felt.
As well as selling my handmade items online, I also attend various fairs, festivals and exhibitions. This is a great way to meet the artists and crafts-people, and support other British businesses.
